Kappa Rho - Samford University

Alpha Tau Omega

Since chartering in 2015, ATO Kappa Rho is distinguished by its commitment to the way of Christ, leadership development, academic excellence, and serving the community.

The Creed of Alpha Tau Omega

To bind men together in a brotherhood based upon eternal and immutable principles, with a bond as strong as right itself and as lasting as humanity; to know no North, no South, no East, no West, but to know man as man, to teach that true men the world over should stand together and contend for supremacy of good over evil; to teach, not politics, but morals; to foster, not partisanship, but the recognition of true merit wherever found; to have no narrower limits within which to work together for the elevation of man than the outlines of the world: these were the thoughts and hopes uppermost in the minds of the founders of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.

Our Brotherhood

From the President

Founded in 1865, Alpha Tau Omega was built upon the ideals of reconciliation and brotherly love. More than 150 years later, the Kappa Rho chapter at Samford University remains deeply committed to the values that have defined Taus for generations—Love and Respect.

But this is no ordinary love. ATO was founded upon the eternal and sacrificial love of Christ—a love that lays down one’s life for a brother. To foster a brotherhood grounded in such a costly love requires a shared commitment to the way of Christ.

Our chapter is dedicated to excellence in all areas. In 2024, we held the highest GPA of any organization on campus—Greek or non-Greek. We completed over 4,000 individual service hours in the Birmingham community and raised over $22,000 for our philanthropy partner, A4ONE.

Kappa Rho develops men of true merit—men who fear God, love one another, and serve their communities faithfully. That commitment was recognized nationally when we were honored with the Chapter Award of Distinction by the North American Interfraternity Conference, placing us among the top fraternity chapters in the country.

It is my great honor to serve as the 10th president of Kappa Rho and to lead alongside a group of men I’m proud to call my brothers.

Love & Respect,

Nate Bass
